Who we are
Chameleons Hair and Scalp (“we”, “us”) is a trichology clinic based in Plymouth, Devon. We are the data controller for the personal information described in this policy. You can contact us at info@chameleonshairandscalp.com, on 01752 480030, or by post at 254 Dean Cross Road, Plymstock, Plymouth PL9 7AZ.
What we collect
- Contact details you give us — such as your name, email address and phone number — when you make an enquiry or book.
- Information about your hair, scalp and general health that you share with us for your consultation and treatment.
- Consultation notes and trichoscopy images taken during your appointments.
- Basic technical information when you use our website, such as your browser type and pages visited, where cookies or analytics are used.
How we use it
- To respond to your enquiry and arrange appointments.
- To assess your hair and scalp, provide treatment and review your progress.
- To communicate with your GP or another healthcare professional — only with your agreement.
- To meet our legal, insurance and professional obligations.
Our lawful basis
We use your contact details to take steps at your request before providing a service, and to provide that service. Information about your health is special category data: we only use it with your explicit consent, or where otherwise permitted by UK data protection law, and only for your care.
How long we keep it
We keep enquiry details only as long as needed to respond to you. Clinic records are kept for a period of 7 years, in line with guidance from the Institute of Trichologists. Other records are kept for 24 months, in line with the National Hair & Beauty Federation. After these periods, records are securely deleted.
Who we share it with
We never sell your information. We only share it with trusted providers who help us run the clinic (such as secure email, booking or IT services), with your GP if you agree, or where the law requires it.
Your rights
You have the right to access the personal information we hold about you, to ask us to correct or delete it, to restrict or object to how we use it, to data portability, and to withdraw consent at any time. To make a request, please contact us using the details above.
Cookies
Our website may use essential cookies, and — only with your permission — analytics cookies to help us understand how the site is used. Embedded Google Maps may also set cookies. You can manage cookies in your browser settings.
Complaints
If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your information, please contact us first. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
